ASUS Rog Strix 4090 LC OC
It’s been a hot minute since the last “I never thought the 12 volt hot power would happen to me posts…I am beside myself. Yesterday I couldn’t get a get game to start for more than 3 minutes, today it was a different post code every time I tried. Admittedly, it was only 5 or 6, but 99 happened a couple of times in a row. So, dissembling had begun. A single tear rolled down the cheek when WireView was not letting go the way it should, as my heart knew before my mind did. Idk if the pictures are doing it justice, but the third pin from the left looks blue irl not silver.
Interestingly, input side of WV and output side of native cable are fine. I haven’t pulled the build apart further as I’m writing this as a distraction from my current emotional state. No need to let the wife & kid see, so an afternoon woobly pop on the deck while I assess if gaming is even worth it anymore.
Honestly, my guts want to blame the UE5 engine, and/or the “en-poop-ification” of you’ll own nothing rent everything and like it. It’s probably an irrational emotional response, being this mad & sad simultaneously at my age over a gpu is what my kid calls cringe. True, as this was my mid-life crisis expenditure. First built in November’23
7800x3d, Crosshair Gene, G.skill 2x32, 4tb T700, Rog Strix 4090 LC OC, Seasonic Prime TX-1300 3.0, OG WireView. No dongles. Does the AIO even matter here?

NVIDIA RTX 5090 FE
It happened to me with my 5090 FEIt happened to me with my 5090 FE on a Corsair SF1000i PSU. Cable on the PSU end was melting while one wire on the GPU end was starting to melt. Luckily, the 5090 FE didn't receive any damage.
I was curious and checked old cables on an old setup that I had with a 4090 FE and a Corsair HX1500i. The old cable had thermal discoloration on both ends.
I always made sure everything was fitted tight with no tight bends.
